Day 1 - Welcome to Rio!
Arrival, in-country orientation and a chance to get to know the local area. Sample traditional Brazilian Caipirinhas made by the experts and get to know the rest of the group at our Welcome Party before heading out to get your first taste of Brazilian nightlife
Days 2 /3- Get straight into the swing of things with Dance lessons in Samba and Forró. In the evening join our team of Brazilian dancers for a night out on the town to one of Rio’s famous Samba clubs. Many of the Carnival Bloco parties kick–off this weekend so make sure you check our “What’s on Guide” to catch the best ones!
Day 4 - Free day for you to explore Rio, why not head to the legendary beaches of Copacabana or Ipanema ideal places to watch this amazing city go by. In the evening it’s time to visit one of the famous Samba Schools located in the suburbs of Rio for the awe–inspiring sounds of a Samba School Rehearsal
Day 5 - Why not see Guanabara Bay from the top of the Sugarloaf, then get away from the crowds on Praia Vermelha*
Day 6 - Back to the dance-floor for some more Samba lessons ahead of the Carnival blocos and parties!
Day 7 - Paintbrushes ready, together with the locals it’s time to Make Favela Art at the Prazeres Community
Day 8 - Final lessons in Samba and Forró in the morning. Then visit the awe-inspiring Christ the Redeemer Statue (Cristo Redentor) and the Lapa steps (as featured in music videos and fashion shoots throughout the world)*
Day 9 - Take the chance to relax today before Carnival starts in full swing tomorrow…
Day 10 - Blocos, Parties and Parades…today is the official opening of Carnival, join us at the Sambadromo to see local children in full costume opening Carnival 2009 then there is chance to attend one of the Carnival Party Concerts in one of the most amazing settings in the world…on the top of the Sugar Loaf Mountain*
Day 11 - Spend the day on the Jingando Bloco Tour…we will get you to the heart of the best blocos around the city from Cordão de Bola Preta in Cinelandia to the Caramelitas in the hills of Santa Teresa, we will be there! For those who have chosen to Parade in the Carnival, tonight is the night where dreams are realised and we take Centre Stage and parade down the Sambadromo in front of thousands!*
Day 12— Take today to relax and recover and chill out on Ipanema beach and if you’ve still got some energy, join the renowned annual bloco of the Drag Queens of Ipanema. In the evening join us as we head to a behind the scenes Baile Funk party!
Day 13 - Rest and recuperate before seeing the Carnival as a spectator, time to sit back and enjoy the parade at the Sambadromo…
Day 14 - Free day for you to do any last-minute shopping or exploring before joining us for our final Carnival celebrations in the evening.
Day 15 - Departure for the airport (samba in the airport optional…)
